Dropouts (Alissa)

What are some of the effects of dropping out?

There are many reasons students drop out and so many effects from the students dropping out. Some of the effects could be the students getting in to gang violence, drugs, fights and many other things.  For example
“ The center reports that prisoners who are high school droop outs make up as much as 82 percent of the prison population in the U.S.”  So basically that means our prisons are filled with teens and young adults that dropped out. Also “ high school dropouts make up a higher proportion of convicts and inmates awaiting death row in America” and most of them are teenagers who have cough them self in drama and in dangerous stations. And another example would be jobs.
There are so many things that have to do with not graduating high school students. The tend to have higher unemployment rates, less pay, greater need for assistance. Acceding to the U.S. Department of labors bureau of labor statistics reporters form October 1998 show that ” 28.2 percent of employed youth found themselves to be unemployed within a year after they had dropped out of high school.”
With less jobs, less education can cause a poor future. And another thing that has caused drop outs to file for food stamps, WIC, Medicaid and Affordable housing, is the need for assistance. The drop outs need help they cant support themselves all the way they still need the help. Drop outs are people or teens who need the help clearly they have a reason to do what they do. So may be we should help those who failed or feel like they failed in there life.
