Dropouts (Adrian)

The high school dropout rate is a national problem. In a blog of at least 250 words discuss: why do you so many students dropout? What do you think happens to them what are some of the effects of dropping out? What can be done to keep kids in school?

Why do students dropout? What happens to them? What are some of the effects of dropping bout? What can be done to keep kids in school?

I think students of all ages dropout because they feel like they’re not smart. Some of the other students might be making fun of him/her saying they are stupid they cant do anything right. They feel sad and they think no one wants to be there friend and just dropout. And when they dropout they don’t have much to do and just start causing trouble. For example, on the article The Effects Of Not Graduating High School article, “prisoners who are high school dropouts make up as much as 82 percent of the prison population in the U.S.”(Crossley)

There are a lot of things that teachers and other students can do to keep students from dropping out. For example some teachers could ask the kids who are struggling in school and ask them what they can do to make them feel better about school. Not many teachers do that they just give the work to the students and sometimes the students don’t even know what to do and they are to scared to ask because they will think they aren’t smart. All of those things would make high school graduates get in trouble and they wont be able to get a job. According to the article, The Effects Of Not Graduating High School article, “ 18.4 percent of high school graduates who choose not to enter college were unemployed” (Crossley)
