Schools began to let girls play on teams of the opposite gender if there is not a team for girls of that sport. In my opinion even if they give girls the opportunity to play on a team it is still hard to fit in with the guys. As a girl, guys see you as someone weaker than guys. They think girls can’t do the same things guys can. It is hard to fit in a team that is full of guys. Just like it is hard to go into a class where you are the only girl. So even if they allow you to play on the team it takes a lot more to actually feel like you are part of a team.

Coaches should encourage the guys to help girls feel apart of the team. The team should be a team. My cousin told me about her experience when she was the only girl on the baseball team. She said she almost got to the point where she didn’t want to play anymore. The guys wouldn’t make any interaction with her. They would constantly leave her out of conversations about the games or pep talks. She said not until they realized she was a very good player but also a very great friend.

Everyone should not only allow girls to play on teams but also treat them like they are part of a team. A team is a group of people who come together to form a team. Every single person from that group should be able to feel like they really are in the team. Both girls and boys.

Why is Jackie Robinson a hero?

Jackie Robinson is a hero up to this day because he was the first black person to break the color barrier and the first to be the vice president of chock full o” nuts.
Jackie Robinson helped people to get passed the color barrier. The played in the major leagues when people did not want to. He stated at first base on April 15, 1947 as the first black guy since the 1880’s. The dodger’s ended racial segregation that rejected players from joining a major baseball leagues. He helped in the civil rights move movement. He played in six World Series and contributed to the dodgers in 1955 World Series champing ship. He won six consecutive all-star games and awarded MLB rookie of the year award and won the national leagues most valuable player award.

                                                Does his legacy live on?

His legacy lives on because every one plays baseball and not by color of there skin or how the look. Whites and blacks and others play every sport and not by racial color or any thing.

How did his actions result in changes in America that were far beyond baseball?

His actions resulted in all sports to baseball to football that every one has the right to play and to do what he/she wants to do. He helped girls and guys play the sport the truly love and not by what people say.

How did he shape sports for the generations to come?

He changed the shape of sports for the next generations to come by distorting the color barrier so the next generation could not feel what they felt when you are not allow to play sports or to play with other race of  people.

Why is Jackie Robinson a hero?

Jackie Robinson is known for playing baseball but he is a hero because he broke the color barrier. This means that he was one of the African Americans who made it into a professional all white team.  Jackie Robinson’s legacy carries on because he is in museums and he’s a hall of famer.  There is a movie about Jackie Robinson called 42 that came out in 2013 showing stages of his life and how he started playing baseball and how that experience was or him. Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier on April 15 1947. Jackie Robinson was also one of the 1st who got his job for his mental toughness because the person who hired him was looking for someone who could handle all the stress. After Jackie Robinson retired he made sure to not end his story of baseball and became vice president of chock full o’ nuts and served 10 years on the board of the NAACP.

How does his legacy carry on?
Jackie Robinson’s legacy carries on to this day because of how he changed baseball he helped others from the negro teams get onto professional teams. Jackie Robinson made many things possible for athletes mostly black athletes. When Jackie Robinson played on the field he asked the people to respect him as a human being because baseball at the time had been segregated for over 50 years. Jackie Robinsons 1st season was full of a lot of raciest comments from white fans and players.

Should girls be allowed to play on boys’ sport’s team? I

Kimberly Mata

Should girls be allowed to play on boys’ sport’s team? I believe that girls should be able to play on boys’ sport’s team because girls can be as good as boys when playing sports just because we are girls doesn’t mean that we are weak and don’t know how to play any sport that’s meant for boys. Girls can sometimes play better that a boy and if a girl like to play football then we should all have the right to play the sports that we like to play without anyone having to tell us we can’t play because it might be tough for us. According to the article “Girl allowed to play football on Catholic team” it says “Caroline Pla has played football since kindergarten. But was told last fall the no-girls rule would be enforced in her Bucks County league.” I say that girls should be allowed to play any game because its what we like to do. In the article it also explained that “This week, the 12 year old girl and her family asked the Liberty Union Thurston school board for permission to play with the boys on the middle school team.” “In a decision questioned by the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio and an Ohio High School Athletic Association official, the school district said no.” At the end they explain how “our attorney said it is very clear the school district does have the right to determine whether girls participate in contact sports,” Mathew said. The federal law, known as the Title IX, does allow girls to be banned from boys’ contact sports.”

Sports in Schools

In my opinion, I believe that sports should not be banned from schools. I believe this because it will give students a chance to become active and have something to focus on other something then just class work. I mean of course students should have to have good grades to participate in a school sport. If students have failing grades and cannot participate in a school sport anymore, then that will motivate them to do better on their work so they can participate in a school sport that they really enjoy playing and being part of. It will get more students to become more active and have them playing outside, instead of being inside on electronics damaging their eyes. “Athletic programs offer a simple and powerful solution. Kids need physical exercise. Kids like to play games. They want the kind of social interaction and adult mentoring that comes from being part of a team. Athletic programs give students a direct incentive to attend school, keep up their grades, and graduate with their classmates.” (http://sportsinschools.org/) Lots of people make athletes role models because athletes are the good guys and they don’t do anything bad that ruins their reputation. All young adults look up to an athlete. They make them their role model and inspiration because that’s probably what they want to be in life. If athletes commit crimes or do something bad then their fans will probably be very disappointed and upset. However for the athletes, it will probably ruin their reputation and will stick to their name. Our country cares lots about sports. They basically put the athletes in the upper level where everyone can notice them. There are good things that we place the athletes above everybody else. Some of those good things are that it will persuade someone to go try out for a sport that they really want to go for and it will make them have confidence in them.

Atheletes & Our Society

Athletes play a big role in our society. Athletes are leaders, their someone younger generations look up to.  What they do on and off that field or court reflects on someone else.
A athlete should be a role model because as many people in this world that look up to them and want to be like them they should want to set a good example. No one wants an athlete as a role model and their out here going to jail for drugs, abuse or anything their no supposed to.
A athlete going to jail is not an unusual thing nowadays. For example, “Jayson Williams was recently convicted of accidentally shooting and killing his limo driver. Williams use to play in the NBA for the New Jersey Nets.” When an athlete goes to jail no one really looks up to them anymore. When someone looks up to someone, that means they want to be like them, who wants to look up to someone that killed someone?
These athletes need to step up cause younger and younger generations look up to them , whether they like it or not. They need to start setting a better example to people, their making it seem like going to jail is okay to kids who don’t know any better that look up to them. Every athlete professional or not should set a good example in the school , community and any where else.

Girls in Sports

Girls should be allowed to play on a boy’s team because there may not be a girl’s team for the sport. This is my opinion because in the article “ Girl allowed to play football on Catholic team”, states “there are some girls that may be as good or better at the sport than the boys.” Also I think this because in the article “ Girl, 12, asks to play football with boys; Liberty Union says no” by The Columbus Dispatch, states “ Title IV allows equal opportunity on sports teams”, which means that if there is no girls team for the sport, they should be allowed to try out for the boys team. Then, I think that boys could learn to deal to work with different people. There are many coaches that are up for the idea of girls being in the team. Another reason I think girls should be allowed to play on a boy’s team is that girls should be able to speak up for their rights to be able to play the sport they like to play since in the article “ Girl, 12, asks to play football with boys; Liberty Union says no” by The Columbus Dispatch they didn’t want her to play. However, there may be some difficulties and fees in this. For example, girls would need a different kind of uniform, their own locker room, and their own coach. The other bad thing in this is that boys may not want to go play hard on the girls and may go easy on them. Finally, boys would probably sexually harass the girls in the field.

Girls in Sports

Girls in sports
I think that girls should be able to play on the boy’s sport’s team. Because everyone has the right to play any sport they want weather it’s a boys sport or a girls sport. Many girls play boys sports as good as boys do. According to debate.org “Girls should be equal to boys , boys need to accept the fact that not only boys can play football, soccer, baseball or any other boy sport. Boys don't think girls should play boy sports because "girls aren't strong enough" well that's NOT TRUE we are strong enough so LET US PLAY BOY SPORTS !” According to Zoe Meyer, “On the athletic field, in the gym, or on the ice, there have always been standards for the athletes to follow. These standards range from what type of athletic equipment is not only necessary but appropriate, to who can play when, where, and how. This last standard is the one that is being challenged the most; can men play not only on women’s teams, but can they also participate in female dominated sports without being taunted? The same goes for women, can females, without fear, really participate in traditionally male dominated sports? Although the social costs to the individual participating in the non-traditional sport are many, the benefits, if played well and correctly, can be and are quite plentiful as well.” According to the article Girl Allowed To Play Football On Catholic Team “The OHSAA encouraged schools to allow girls to try out for and play any sport, Moore said. About 60 girls in ohio participate on boys wrestling teams, and more than 100 play on football teams, she said.”

Should Giels be Allowed to Play in boys' sport teams?

Should Girls be allowed to play in boys' sport teams?

I think that girls should be allowed to play in boys’ sport teams. ”there wasn’t a girls team”. If a girl doesn’t have the right to play on the team that she wants to then that might bring problems from the law. Girls could also be better athletes the some boys that are a benefit for the team. Letting a girl play in a boys’ sport team could attack more supporters for the team or more viewer to the field.
On the other hand girls could bring problems to the team because she might get discriminated by the other boys on that team or by the coaches. If the girl gets hurt her family might be mad. Other teams might forfeit the games because they don’t want to hurt the girl and they may not be able to have a fair game for the team.
In between all that at the end the girl has the choice, I think that a girl should be able to play in any sport team that they want, and if the game/sport is too violent for them then they can quite and try another sport. If the Girl gets hurt in a sport then that would be her fault at be aware of the consequences. Therefore other teams shouldn’t forfeit against their opponent. I think that if a person is been discriminated any type of way then there should be a law to that.

Girls on Boys Sports Teams

Girls should be in boy’s teams but there will be some Pro’s and Con’s to this action. Some of the Pro’s of having girls in boy’s teams is that people have to be equal to each other and have to understand that girls can do the same sports as girls even if their girls. A female can play as rough and as strong as males. As someone quoted in debate.org “Girls can play football and base ball yet the male population believe that the females are too fragile and can’t do it”. Some of the Con’s to this action is that girls can get hurt or guys can be hard on them. Lets say that a girl wanted to join well she could but then again guys are stronger then girls so she would get hurt that’s way states are making it a law that girls don’t play on boys teams. Some of the things that a girl could bring to a team is problems because the teams they play against might not want to play them because there’s a girl and the boys team wouldn’t want the girl to play because they could sexual harass her. Some of the problems that could cause the team would be that it could cost the team a lot more of money because they would have to have another locker room for her and special sport gear for her. Some of the things that could be learned from this are that not anyone could join a sport that they wish for and sometimes not everyone could be equal to each other no matter what sex gender you are.
In conclusion girls should not be allowed in boys teams because it would impact the boys teams and it could cause problems with each other. Also there are some laws about this that girls shouldn’t be allow in boys teams so girls shouldn’t be allow in boys team because it would cost more and boys would sexual harass her and hurt her so they should just join or make a team for girls only.

It's Their Choice

The girls should not be allowed playing sports with boys because the boys might do violence and sexual harassment. Some girls might be too girly and bring the loss to the games. Girls are more fragile; they can't take a 300-pound hit by a guy in football as well as another guy. The girls are scare of the big and tough guys especially on the footballs and soccer’s. The Boys can't play on girls' teams, so it would not be fair for girls to play on boys' teams. The boys can’t play on the girls’ sports teams but the girls want to play on the boy’s team. Boys are generally stronger and more aggressive than girls. Girls shouldn't be able to play on boys’ sports teams because it wouldn't be fair to the girls because the boys are generally stronger and physically tougher. If girls and boys competed with or against each other the boys' team or the team with more boys would win. The girls would bring losses to the game that they play because the girls are weaker and the opponents are stronger, because they have all boys. The teams may go easy on her. We could learn that the girls should only play with the other girls’ sport games, not with the boys’ teams. The main important thing is the safety of the players. If the girls want to play with the boys, they have to play with their own risks. The boys’ play way rougher and tougher than the girls, it’s more likely for them to get hurt.A girl should never be denied the chance to play sports. If they want to play and there is a girl's team then they play on the girl's team. If they want to play and there is no girl's team and only a boy's team they should be allowed on the boy's team.”(NextGen) The girls should be able to play with the boys if they really want to but it’s their choice.

Girls-
In my opinion as a girl, I think girls have a more difficult time as a teen and challenge more things than boys deal with because we have more threats in schools by guys in my opinion. For example, girls seem weak to guys and when guys want to take advantage of a girl, we seem weak too. Also, We have those days every month or so where we get emotional or mad at little things and so we have more stress as girls. Thirdly, Us girls have more drama at school than guys. For example, when us girls find out about a girl talking bad stuff about us, we want to look “ badass” and talk back to them and that eventually turns into a fight.
Boys-
I think boys deal with drug abuse and this is what girls usually deal with. For example, as a teen, drugs are what get guys a reputation, friends, and a so-called “dope” life. Also, boys face the fact whether they’re popular and if they can get girls. For example, boys look into popularity and want to look cool if they can get into any girls pants. And so these are the challenges boys have that girls probably don’t understand. But I still think girls have more challenges than boys.

Girl And Boy Troubles

Question 1.

I think that boys and girls sometimes both go through things. Even if some people may say that girls probably go through more buts that’s not always true boys go through things too.
So to me there is no real answer because like I said I think they go through equal problems. Some challenges that girls go through are that they always to do they’re make up because some girls are very insecure about them self if a girl isn’t then that means they really don’t probably care about what they look like. Sometimes girls have pireods and that’s really annoying to them because they get cramps.
Also girls sometimes have to deal with the fact that some older people will probably say that we cant do a certain thing because its ‘not for girls’ and if we decide to dress In sweat pants to school people will say that’s we are what people now call ‘Rachet.’

I think females have a more difficult time as a teen than males because females have to go through puberty much worse than boys do. Some things girls go through daily that boy may never understand is that every month females have their period for a least a week. They may have mood swings like mad then sad then happy and go in circle like that or it could be different. Some other thing that females go through that males wont understand are going though the pain of having a baby growing inside of you and going through the pain of being in labor. To me I think girls are more concerned about their weight than males are because they don’t care, but I could be wrong. Females are always trying to lose weight and be a stick figure Barbie when really if you were born a bit bigger than there will be a guy that will love you for who you are.

Some evidence that I found on http://www.teen.com/2014/07/31/random-stuff/girl-women-problems/ are that when females have to choose a formalwear males wear a suit and a tie with nice shoes, females have to think “am I going to wear a dress, skirt, fancy shorts, or a nice jumpsuit?“ and then they have to think about their shoes, make-up and jewelry .  Its so much stress.

Teen pregnancy at wyandotte high schhol

I honestly don’t think teen pregnancy at Wyandotte is a big deal, yes its something to worry about but its not the main issue in the school. Some of the consequences of getting pregnant at a young age is that you don’t get to live your life how you would live it if you had not gotten pregnant. Another consequence of getting pregnant at a young age is that you don’t get to finish high school well, and you don’t get to go to collage because you have to work and take care of your baby.  Some of the challenge that thesew parents face are getting rejected by their boyfriend or even sometime even by their parents. Another challenge is sometime or most of the time they got nobody to take care of the child and you have to go to work or to school, another challenge is that some times the mother has to take care of the baby by them self’s because the dad don’t want to take responsibility.  In Dosomething. Org it says ‘’ 8 out of 10 teen dads don’t marry the mother of their child.  Also in teen pregnancy: medical risk and realities it says that ‘’ the U.S. pregnancy rate among girls between 15 and 19 was 26.6 births for every 1,000, according to the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unwanted Pregnancy. ‘‘ The percentage of teen-age girls getting pregnant is getting low. In teen pregnancy: medical risk and realities it says that ‘‘ the rate has steadily declined since 1991, when is 117 per 1,000 teens between the same ages.  Well there are some reasons, challenges and even some consequences that teen girls have to go though if they get pregnant at there teen age year .

teen pregancy at wyandotte

From my perspective teens pregnancy at Wyandotte is at a low and teen pregnancy is at a rise in the 2010 about 1000 teens give birth to 1 child. 15-19 give to birth and had a abortion more than once.  21.6% out of hundred are Indian/native giving birth. 20.9% out of hundred are Hispanics give birth to more than 1 child and 20.4% out of hundred are African American giving birth to 1 or more kids. 15-17 obtain 6% of abortion and 19 year old girls obtain 11% of abortion and teen under 15 years old have 0.4% out of hundred. more than half of these girls never get married and leaves the baby in foster home or leaves them with there parents. but the teen pregnancy has gone down from the past it has gone down from 76% to 72%.

Teen pregnancy isn’t the biggest problem facing teens at Wyandotte because teens face many things that are worst than teen pregnancy. The consequences of having a baby while young are that its too much for them having to take care of the baby and staying in school and some teen girls have to work to be able to give there babies what they need. And some other consequences are that “there are health risks for the baby and children born to teenage mothers are more likely to suffer health, social, and emotional problems than children born to older mothers.” (Stanley J. Swierzewski, III, M.D.) The challenges that this parents face are that they have to be responsible for there babies and to stay in school and some of them drop out of school because they cant take care of their baby and go to school at the same time and some of them have to work because the teens parents wouldn’t help them out. “Teenage pregnancy is a serious social problem. According to the March of Dimes, about three in 10 teenage girls become pregnant before the age of 20. While many of these pregnancies end in abortion or adoption, teen girls who do decide to keep their babies face many challenges. Although less is known about teen fathers, research indicates that they, too, face problems associated with being parents.”(Meghan Slocum) Some of the male teens do take responsibility for their actions and do take responsibility for the baby but some don’t some boy teens just let the girl take all of the responsibility for the baby. “As Father’s Day approaches, it may be time to rethink the question of a father’s rights and responsibilities, to take some of our most cherished and unexamined slogans and see if they are fair. (This is a dangerous prospect: Obviously there is a reason that we cherish and don’t examine our slogans.) Take for instance the idea of “a woman’s right to choose.” I believe absolutely that a woman should decide whether to terminate or go forward with a pregnancy. The man’s opinion is only secondary, and if there is a conflict, entirely negligible.”( Katie Roiphe). Most of the time when a girl gets pregnant the boy doesn’t take responsibility for the baby and they just let the girl handle it by themselves but there are times when the boy does that responsibility for the baby and does help the girl and doesn’t just let her handle everything bye herself. I think that in a relationship when a girl gets pregnant I think that both the girl and the boy should take responsibility for the baby and not just the girl.

Blog: Who do you think has a harder time as a teen, girls or guys?

In my opinion girls have a more difficult time then guys as a teen. Girls have a lot to go through as a young adult. Girls start their period as a teen. They also have more worries if they are sexually active. Unlike guys girls have to worry about getting pregnant. Some girls are very insecure about almost everything. For example, their body, the way they dress, the way they look, and the way they wear make up or not. Once girls start getting their womanly bodies guys and men start noticing and seeing them as sexual objects. Girls start to have going out to certain places cause there are always some disgusting pervert standing there looking as you like if they’re getting ready to kidnap you. Then there is always some old man hitting on you while you’re minding your own business. Girls are way more sensitive than guys, they start getting sad and mad more easily. Most girls don’t even realize what is going on with their bodies and they get worried. Many girls when they become a teen they start getting Acne and their looks start changing as well as guys, but some girls don’t go through the process as fast as others. Unlike guys, girls have a week of cramps and uncomfortable days to go through each month. According to teen help “The main rise in the teen pregnancy rate is among girls younger than 15.” ("Teen Pregnancy Statistics and Teen Pregnancy Facts," Family First Aid. [Online.])
