High School Dropouts (Tra'Chell)

Why do you think so many students dropout? What do you think happens to them- what are some of the effects of dropping out? What can be done to keep kids in school?

Describe the problem and effects of students dropping out, and what can happen to keep kids in school.

I think the problem with kids dropping out is that they don’t find school useful for them, so they drop out. Another reason why I think is the problem with kids dropping out is they probably failed the same grade too many times so they just gave up. “According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, reports from October 1988 show that 28.2 percent of employed youth found themselves to be unemployed within a year after they had dropped out of high school.” (Crossley)  Some effects of students dropping out are that they will have low income because they don’t have a career. “According to the National Dropout Prevention Center/Network, since high school dropouts have a greater chance of living in poverty or with considerably low income”. (Crossley) Another effect of students dropping out of school is they will have a hard time finding a well paying job because they don’t have a diploma. If they don’t have any money to buy food, clothes, shoes, and etc. they will start doing illegal things, which includes getting involved with drugs and robbing people for their money. The last effect of students dropping out is they will not have the things that they want because they didn’t complete school. If you don’t complete high school, then some jobs will not hire you
