About the 1930s
These people went through a lot they didn’t have T.Vs,
Radios to tell them when and where the storm was or when it was coming. Then
when they see it coming they had to go get their kids and put wet towels and
sheets all over their house so that it (dust) wouldn’t come in and kill them or
get them sick. Their lives changed because they had to repent their all their
crops and clean up their land and farm buy new animals cause the one they had
died. If their kids are sick they had to try and get them to feel better they
had no water and the kids couldn’t go to school. I could imagine me living in
this time because I can see what they had to go through and it was hard and mislabel
times for them and their kids. . No because we do not have dry land and it rain
a lot here. The okies are the people that they were dubbed okies in the popular
pree. For years California or green and Washington has been growing and
migrated.
American Dream
Blog 1
I would define the American dream
as getting a better education or to live on my own and care for myself. I
believe that the dream from the past has changed because blacks and Mexicans
have better rights now than back then. The positives are that there are laws
that perfect the rights of these people, and there are so many people from many
races that help each other to reach their dreams just like the teachers from
Wyandotte high. The negative is that there is races that want to get rid of
rights for them and don’t want them around.
My American dream is to be a
cosmetologist. I also hope to own my own house and be married to a loving man
and start a family. My greatest strength I already know how to fix hair nails
and make up because I practice on my mom’s hair. What prevents me to try is
that people who don’t believe me or trust in me. Another thing that is
preventing me to do that is my grades that may interfere on what I may want to
be when I get older or to complete my American dream. Another thing it that I
may get pregnant or have a baby and that will take most of my time away then I
wont be able to follow my goals.

napolen complex
-->
How do I feel about the napoleon complex is that is is kinda
true because I seen in movies and I think it could be true. Do I believe that
its true yes I do believe that its true because like if I was short I would
pick on people bigger than me so I can feel big. Do I know somebody like this
no I dont know somebody like this. The way this complex relates to curley is
because he is always picking on lennie because he is bigger than him. Some
other things is like if I was short I wouldn’t want to get pick on by people
bigger than me. I would want to feel good and make my self feel superior and
bigger than I really am. I would do stuff that would make me feel good like
football and wrestling that would make me kind of big and more manly. I would
also do other things like drive big truck and play football with out pads and
wrestle people bigger than me. I would feel like can accomplish stuff that probably
any other little person couldn’t do. But in curley’s case he picked on people
for no reason like if they were bigger than him he. Thought they were a threat
and he wanted to show them that he was not small or week. He wanted to be seen
or known and the little person that is not weak. He also wanted to be known and
the bosses son and he didn’t want anybody messing with his wife so he fought
and pick on people bigger than him so. He didn’t get pick on or thought of as
if he was weak.

The Dust Bowl
The dust bowl was one of the
hardest times in the 1930’s, it took part around the Midwestern area this
affected people in many different ways, most people had to walk backwards and
most of the time dust would get in house’s so people would wear mask. Okies were people from Oklahoma who migrated
towards California so they could get
away from the dustbowl. This
caused a lot of formers to leave their farms, and move to the city to avoid the
dust bowl, but little did they know the cities were still under depression at
the time, and California was one of the best places to find jobs. This connects
to the book of mice and men because George and Lennie had to move to Soledad
California, first of all because Lennie had gotten them both kicked out of the
first place they were in which was a place called weed because he grabbed a
woman by her clothes and would not let go so she accused him of rape, and
second of all they needed to find some more work so they could at least make a
living off of something. I could not
imagine living in this time of the depression or the dust bowl, my family
trying to figure out what to eat everyday, or worrying about dust getting in my
home or all in my eyes or face, this would just not be the life for me. http://www.livinghistoryfarm.org/farminginthe30s/water_06.html
American Dream
I
think that the American dream is being better than the generation. I think that
the American dream has changed overtime because there is more jobs available
even though the economy is still pretty bad. Something good about this country
is that my family has jobs. Something bad about the U.S is that the economy is
really bad. Something else that is good is that some people in the U.S are
really nice. Another bad thing is the racist people. Also they took down Osama
bin laden so that is also a very very good thing.so now I don’t have to worry
of getting on a plane and crashing into a building.
My
American dream is to have a good job when I graduate from high school and I
also want to have a great family. In my future I want to be a better and more
responsible person than I am right now. I think I will have to work on what I
think is my American dream. I will have to try harder in school and learn how
to earn my money so I would have to get a job. I think that a lot of thing
could prevent my American dream but most of all I think that the laws and
economy could and would prevent from me getting and having what I think is my
American dream.
American Dream
I was
studying about the American dream and I found out on a website called “spark
notes” it read about a man that speaks about happiness, “The pursuit of
happiness,’” McMahon writes, “was launched in different, and potentially
conflicting, directions from the start, with private pleasure and public
welfare coexisting in the same phrase. For Jefferson, so quintessentially in
this respect a man of the Enlightenment, the coexistence was not a problem.”
But Jefferson’s formula almost immediately lost its double meaning in practice,
McMahon notes, and the right of citizens to pursue their personal interests and
joy won out. This victory was confirmed by waves of immigrants to America’s
shores, from what I read, America was truly the land of opportunity. “To pursue
happiness in such a land was quite rightly to pursue prosperity, to pursue
pleasure, to pursue wealth” - says spark notes. The true definition of the
American dream is an American
social ideal that stresses egalitarianism and especially material prosperity;
the prosperity of life, wealth and success.
I also read that Time
magazine says, "People feel abandoned because these institutions used to
be partners in dream achievement”. How can we think the government is
trustworthy when we have 80 percent of Americans who don't trust our basic
institutions? What this means is the dream doesn't stop, but how you get there
is complicated now or different” My dream is that
someday kids will not have to live in poverty. It makes me see how fortunate I
am to have what I have. My other dream is for all wars to stop, and to declare
world peace. All of this fighting is putting a bad impression on people, some
think life is all about war, and we could live in a better place and be better
people if we could all get along. to make the world a happier and more joyful
place. I can achieve it by helping other people conquer sickness, hardships,
and sadness. The world is a troubled place now. I hope I can make a difference.
People all over the world are having tough times. War is killing many people
and causing great sadness, and all the children recognize their potential and
work to understand they can be the best in whatever they choose to do as a life
work.

The Dust Bowl and its Effects
The Dust Bowl and Its Effects
How would it feel if you were an Okie
during the dust bowl? Being there during a dust bowl would be a scary event.
Because you will have to leave everything, your home and friends. An Okie is a
group of people who migrate to another place because of a bad situation or to
find a job. If I was there during the dust bowl, I would have been very scared.
You wouldn’t be able to see anything, because the dust would be covering your
eyes and your face. And you will need to take cover somewhere the dust won’t
come in. Before the dust storm comes, people would pack up and leave with their
families and pets. And they would go to another place to live. “The families
packed their belongings and set out on a journey of three days or more down
Route 66 to a supposedly better life in the Far West”. (http://www.livinghistoryfarm.org/farminginthe30s/water_06.html).But the people who stayed would fear the consequences
of a dust storm. I think that the little kids and old people would have the
ones that suffer more. I would have taken care of my little siblings. I think
the dust bowl affected everyone who lived there during the dust bowl. I think
that the dust bowl has to do something with the book of Mice and Men because, I
think in the book a really big and bad dust bowl will happen. And the workers
will need to leave or stay there during a dust bowl. I thinks that how its
connected with the book.
