What role do athletes play in our society? Should they be role models? What happens to their fans when these role models cheat, commit crimes, etc.?

What role do athletes play in our society, should we consider them role models what happens to their fans if they cheat, commit crimes, etc.?

          My opinion is that athletes play a big role in our society because a lot of people watch sports so a lot of people consider them a big part in their life’s. I think that when athletes cheat it really affects there life because maybe those people have been watching them play since they were little and when they see that their role model has done something wrong they feel like their role models have left them down. Maybe it will really affect their life’s so much that they might even stop watch them play or quite their sport they play.  When they cheat they feel like they let them down. When they commit crimes they feel like they have been looking up to the wrong person their whole life and might even kill their dream of becoming like that kind of athlete. Like my role model is Lionel Messi a soccer player that plays with FC Barcelona, he didn’t pay his taxed and that kind of effected me but I didn’t let  my dream down.

           I don’t think professional sports players should take drugs to make them do better. Well yea you think you would get more money for doing better but is it worth risking your life just so you can do better at a sport, think do you think its worth it? Athletes play a pretty big role in society. They are entertainment for many sports fans and I don’t think their fans would like to see them end up with some kind of sickness or something. Some ways my country does think sports are too important because it’s a big thing and a lot of sports have been around for a while but that doesn’t mean its ok to do drugs to enhance your sport skills. Sometimes I do think they put athletes above us because they are richer and famous and have a lot of fans so they think they are better than most of us, I don’t really think its fair though because they get paid and a lot of attention because they take drugs so that they can get better at a sport, its basically cheating like if a model used Photoshop to make themselves look flawless. If they want to risk their lives just so they can do better that’s their choice but if I was a famous athlete I would think twice about taking them.

Enhancement drugs are bad because they kill the cells to create bigger ones, which soon will die off. I think enhancement drugs is just another form of cheating, It’s like if you can’t beat a level on a game then what do you do…You go look for cheat codes, Cheating, same thing for athletes they look for a way to finish faster without having to do all the work. I believe our country cares a little too much about sports, Everywhere you go you see sports, Television, Cereal Boxes, Shoes and Ads for companies that have nothing to do with sports, like Drew Brees on that Nyquil commercial. Sports play a big part of society. Everyone wants to be apart of some type of sport nowadays. Sports are everything to some people according to that new Addidas commercial. I don’t think athlete’s put them selves above everybody else; I think people just place them higher than they should be. People act like someone in sports or on television have superpowers that make them different, but they’re just a human just like you and me. Putting athletes above everybody can be a good thing and a bad thing. Some athletes might get cocky and think he’s better than everyone, thinking he has no responsibility, waste all his money on big houses and cars then end up with no money at the end of his career, Other athletes might do something good to help out there community, like Dwayne Wade did. He took his money and made a library in his old community that he lived in as a young child.

In my opinion athletes play a big role in our society because a lot of people watch sport so a lot of people consider them a big part in their lifes. I think that when athletes cheat it really affects there life because maybe those people have been watching them play since they were little and when they see that their role model has done something wrong they feel like their role models have left them down and maybe it will really affect their lives, so much that they might even stop watching the sport and go into depression. When they cheat they feel let down , when they commit a crime they feel like they have been looking up to the wrong person their whole life and might even kill their dream of becoming that type of athlete.
